How To Dress Your Child For A Photoshoot

June 11, 2021

Are you planning on having a photoshoot to capture the cutest days of your little one but don’t know how to dress them up? No problem!

Here are some tips to help you navigate children’s dressing and snap some cute photos.

Avoid solid colors

As much as you’re tempted to put your child in solid black or white outfits, they really aren’t the best option when it comes to photoshoots and cameras.

Solid colors can wash out your child’s face making them look pale and sickly. You can, however, incorporate dark colors with fun patterns and designs to make the photos more exciting and visually appealing

Bright colors really stand out in photos

Where solid colors are a big no-no, bright colors pop and stand out in real life and photos. They bring new life and excitement to the photos and also cheer up your child.

Don’t force your child to wear uncomfortable clothing

Being stuck in uncomfortable clothing and forced to pose and look cute for pictures can be tiring for your child. They already have a short attention span, and you want to make the most of their photoshoots, so no matter how cute or pretty those dresses and fitted denim are, avoid putting your child in uncomfortable or restricting clothes.

You and your child will have a much better time and experience if they feel free and relaxed.

Put your kids in matching outfits

If your photoshoot involves you or you have more than one kid, put on matching outfits. They look cute in real life and in pictures.

Add some accessories

Accessories add the final touches to your outfits, and your kids will enjoy them too. Get some cute tiny bags for them to hold or add hair accessories to make the pictures more bright and fun.

Add props and toys

Props and toys can be convenient during photo sessions. They keep your baby and their little hands busy while you get the perfect photos. They also stop them from putting their hands in their mouth.

There are a variety of props to choose from, and you can opt for something timeless that’ll look cute even 20-30 years down the line. A wooden toy or a soft blanket will keep your child entertained during the whole shoot, and you click some dynamic photos.

Let them wear their comfy shoes

As a parent, you already know how moody and cranky kids can be. Putting them in uncomfortable shoes will make them even crankier, and you’ll have to call off the shoot.

Put them in their comfiest shoes, so they don’t give you a hard time and are able to enjoy the entire session and play around.
