Fishing Months and Seasons in Cabo San Lucas

The month of January is a great time to visit Cabo for a fishing excursion. The city welcomes Striped Marlin, Spanish Mackerel, Roosterfish, and other species around this time.

The colder currents from the north slow fish down and you’ll witness new fish species every day. Whether it’s the Yellowfin Tuna, Striped Marlin, Sea Bass, Snapper, or Pompano, the bottom bite heats up with new inshore and offshore fish.

Spring breaks new dawn with decreasing rainfall and weather that welcomes other fish besides the Marlin. Yellowtail, Amberjacks, Sea Bass, and Roosterfish make an appearance toward the end of the month.

With the change in temperatures bringing lower humidity, Striped Marlin and Dorado fish bite will be found offshore. The inshore conditions welcome smaller Skip Jack, Dorado, Yellowtail, and Roosterfish as well.

As the temperature rises in May, you’ll find a very good Striped Marlin bite inshore. As the weather heats up to 89 degrees, don’t forget to bring your sunblock while fishing for bigger Dorado and Marlin.

With the temperatures reaching 94 degrees, inshore water gets heated up with Snappers, Pompano, and Grouper. Don’t forget to fish for big Tuna, Blue Marlin, and Wahoo offshore Cabo.

With July considered to be the hottest month in Cabo, the high temperatures welcome Billfish, Sailfish, Blue Marlin, and huge Roosterfish.

With temperatures and humidity on the rise throughout the month, don’t let it deter you from catching the biggest fish bites of the season. The Black and Blue Marlin are found offshore and Dorado and Wahoo dominate inshore.

While tropical storms might threaten your fishing plans, don’t let them intimidate you! As the clouds pass and the sun shines through, take your boat out and catch big Yellowfin Tuna, Black and Blue Marlin, and Sailfish weighing more than 300 pounds!

If you’re a sportfishing fan, you don’t want to miss the cooler temperatures in October when the majority of the Fishing Tournaments take place. You’ll witness Blue, Stripped, and Black Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado and a number of other fish in action.

As the temperatures drop, anglers can take out their boats to catch a variety of fish swimming in the blue waters of Cabo. The Blue and Black Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Wahoo, and Mako Shark are some of the best bites of November.

Enjoy the cool winds out into the shore as you have a blast catching fish bites of the season! December bears witness to a number of fish species, ranging from Striped Marlin, Dorado, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, and Sailfish.
